海的一角

在世界的某一角,是否能找回我的方向。。。

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

2011年才過了十一天,可昰我彷彿已過了一年。
在過去几天裏,发生了大大小小許多事。
正当我疲備不勘时,妈传了一袩簡訊给我。她说:

maybe i understand what happen to you,
你要紧记家昰你最安心及最平静的保护区.
妈永远在你身边支持你。

我哭了。。。

Free Your Heart

This piece of work is dedicated to a close friend of mine. She inspired me with this shot.
When love has become such a heavy burden, you should just let it go.

Story to Tell

I did a series of shots for a good friend of mine recently. Through the eyes of this little doll, one will be able to view this world from a different perspective. This concept really caught my interest. Read more about her story in her blog:

Midnight Blue

This album was done last year but I only post process the shots now. I remembered myself heading aimlessly down the road on that summer midnight. Perhaps I was hoping to rediscover myself through others? Or was I simply feeling lost at that point in time? I am really unsure.

Grow Here

A piece of my work which was featured in the publication "Eye e City 2008".

Aging population is a phenomenon experienced by most major city, including Singapore. I believe that everyone needs some form of goal to work towards in life. Hence, a sense of uncertainty and emptiness inevitably sets in after retirement. Our parents, after working tirelessly for most of their life, deserve a more comfortable place to spend their old age. Care from both their childern and the community plays a major role in filling up this "empty hole". In this way, the scenario of elderly heading aimlessly out to the street might be seen less frequently.

Man and Nature - A Balance?

While mankind builds his desired home, he constantly returns some space to nature. Although different cities practice the philosophy to a different extent, the common aim of such act is to achieve a balance between a built and a natural environment. A pure urban environment is often too harsh for mankind to live in. With the touch of nature, the urban landscape is injected with natural qualities such as fresh air and shades. These qualities are essential for healthy living of mankind and are often difficult to achieve artificially.

Random Thoughts

Some recent happenings induced me to think about the types of human relation which my surrounding people and I have built. I come to realise that there are tons of people who conduct themselves differently in front of different people. I admits that I practice this "skill" to an extend. Is this really the correct and only way to survive in society? Why is it such a deep rooted culture that is deem acceptable for the past centuries? On the other hand, I greatly appreciate the guy who induced me to think about this issue. It is now that I realises I have not treasured those around me who are true to their heart, my dad, my mum, my good friends TH, OK & HW.

I already have a piece of work in mind in this line of thoughts, just that I don't have time to materialise it now due to the crazy exams.

Take care to you who is reading this entry~

Random Thoughts

I was looking through some of the shots taken some time back.
Shots that bring back memories but not done quite well.
Details lost in the shadows and highlights are lost forever......

Chip n Dale

Chip n Dale are my favorate characters from Disney. The use of similar tones in the composition allows the object to blend well into the surrounding yet stands out at the same time. This is also the first time that I am trying out a two light set-up. I have my bicycle light as my key light. My hot-shoe flash bounced light off the walls to take out any harsh shadows.

Photography is not about how good your equipment is.
It is about how developed your ideas are.

Take Me Home

There were quite a few thoughts on my mind when I composed this shot. I wanted to express the idea that it has been quite some years since I travel the journey of life. However, being quite a sentimental guy, I still look back every now and then, taking with me only the good memories and leaving the bad ones behind. This photo was shot a year back with my compact Fuji fd31. From then till now, I am exploring more on composition. This shot was then used in an advertising project by a friend of mine.

Reservoir Sunset 2

This shot is taken about 10 minutes after the shot in my previous post. The change in color tone of the evening sky within minutes simply amaze me.

Reservoir Sunset 1

This shot was taken at a reservoir near my house. How could I have missed such beautiful sunset for so many years... I even travelled to different corners of the island seeking a good shot. Maybe that is human nature. We never realise that the perfect moment can be achieved with such ease.

Melting...

Planet Earth, our one and only home, is experiencing a phenomenon commonly known as global warming. It is caused by an increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere due to human activities. Due to a rise in the average global temperature, glaciers are melting at an increased rate. The additional influx of fresh water can result in severe problems such as sea level rise. This capture aims at presenting the scenario through an object which we see in our everyday life - the ice cube.

夜空 彩虹

This shot was taken during the Singapore Firework Festival 2008. I was using my compact to try my hand on firework same time last year but was fustrated as I could not gain complete control over the aperture and shutter.

You & Me

I love sunset. This shot was taken at Changi Boardwalk. I wanted to move away from the conventional shot & these birds just happen to catch my attention. I was using my 18-55mm hence, was unable to move any closer to them. A minimalist approach was taken towards the composition.
